1. The future of China’s Health Code

With the relaxation of China’s Zero Covid Policy, Guangdong province’s provincial health code officially discontinued services on February 16, 2023. Guangdong Province announced that it will completely delete and destroy all data saved in the health code records so as to protect privacy.

Some survices of Guangdong Health Code have stopped working and related data has been deleted.

The health Code has been an important measure of the Chinese government to contain Covid spread. In China, each province runs its own version of the health code system, which generally contains personal information such as the owner’s Covid test results and travel history. The future of Health Code has been a subject of discussion in other provinces as well.
