1. Macron's Unconventional Visit to China

On April 5, French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Beijing for a three-day visit that will be filled with high-stake meetings with China's leader Xi Jinping. During their meeting, Xi said China and France should work toward greater cooperation in areas such as biodiversity, climate change, and Africa's development. 

It's worth noting that Macron reached out to China this time before Xi had a chance to repay Macron's visit to China three years ago, which is an unconventional diplomatic practice. 

Xi also held a trilateral meeting with Macron and EU chief Ursula von der Leyen.
