The Shanghai Auto Show in April has caught attention worldwide for many reasons. One of the highlights of the show was the acrobatic moves of YangWang U8, the new luxury electric vehicle from Chinese carmaker BYD. The car instantly creates a buzz in the industry.
The U8 is powered by a four-motor independent drive system called e4, which allows it to perform astonishing maneuvers beyond the capability of any other sport utility vehicle (SUV). One such feature is the Crab Mode, which enables the U8 to move sideways like a crab by turning all four wheels in the same direction.
The U8 drove onto a platform surrounded by spectators. Then turns all four wheels to the right and begins moving sideways like a crab. The U8 then turns its wheels to the left and moves in the opposite direction.
